Dear UUMC Community,
As I was standing in line at John 3:16 mission with a neighborhood constituent who is handicapped and needed help getting his Thanksgiving turkey basket, I was impressed with the efficiency of the organization, and the smiling faces of the volunteers from John 3:16 and from Bank of Oklahoma. This time of year we find a lot of opportunities to give for the benefit of others, and that’s the opportunity you have at University UMC as well.
This is a bit of a rewrite from the thank you letters to those who made pledges in our campaign and the usual pledging partners we hadn’t heard from yet, because I want to give everyone an opportunity to participate, even if you have never pledged. I’m writing to invite you to join the 47 partners in ministry who have already pledged for 2019 to collectively raise more than $. We had at least 17 existing pledging partners thus far raise their pledges from last year, and we also added five new or return pledges to our ministry. What an inspiring group of people who love what we do at University UMC. Would you prayerfully consider making a pledge? The pledges we have thus far received range from $300-$25,000. Whatever the amount, deciding in advance what we will contribute toward the ministry at UUMC is not only helpful to our budgeting process, but is also faithful obedience to our scriptures. (2 Corinthians 9: 5-15)
In 2019 we’ll be creating a discipleship pathway with the ministry team, teaching and learning about our church polity in preparation for our 2019 Special Called General Conference in January and February, convening a group of confirmands starting at our March 2019 Confirmation retreat, celebrating the joy and fanfare of Easter in April, combining our efforts with our Missional Area Team to reach out to the TPS administrative community again in May, reaching out to underserved children with reading tutoring during Project Transformation in June, and much more. We will do so with your help, so thank you for joining in the effort! I truly believe our church makes a great impact in our community. We are living out the United Methodist mission to “Make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world” in a unique, graceful, and beautiful way at UUMC!
